Herbalist, Sarah Carlene McIntire

Sarah Carlene, Herbalist

I have been dabbling in gardens and working with plant allies for as long as I can remember. From making "potions" with petals and rain water as a child to boiling down elderberries to make syrups for my own children, I have always had my hands in the Earth. Making preparations for my family has always been a joy and from time to time, I have been asked to make these wild medicines for others.  My ultimate goal is to teach my children and  the community how to make these preparations themselves to support their family's wellness through workshops and classes that are affordable and are structured to build confidence in this plant work.

When I'm not in the garden or foraging the Cabinet Wilderness you can find me with my tribe-of-5 on our OneAcreWood in Noxon, Montana.

"I have purchased several 'From the Root' products and they have all been excellent quality. Sarah's Elderberry Syrup is great for a winter boost and the Balsam Poplar Bud cream is amazing! The scent is unique and not overwhelming and it feels luxurious on my hands at the end of the day. I'll be ordering more!" -Mary, Thompson Falls, MT

Co-lead teacher and mentor of preschool aged children, 2-6 years old. Our program was 100% outdoors in all weather. We practiced naturalist skills with the children like fire tending, carving, handwork, plant and scat identification and nature observation. We hiked, we swam, sang and danced. The children were the curriculum and we practiced non-violent, social emotional communication.  I successfully completed the Level 1 Forest Kindergarten training as offered by the Academy of Forest Kindergarten in Santa Barbara, CA July, 2021.
